Do You Have a Daily ‘Date’ With God?

Do You Have a Daily ‘Date’ With God?

We all have 168 hours in each week. What do we do with our time? If you work 50 hours per week, sleep 56 hours per week, have 42 hours a week at home with family, you have 20 hours a week left. If you spend 6 hours a week in church, that still leaves you 14 hours a week! Out of those 14 hours, do you have a daily ‘date’ with God?
The only way we can develop a relationship is spending time with another. If we do not spend time with God in His Word, in prayer and meditation, we do not have a healthy relationship with Him. We might know who God is, but we do not Know Him!

Many people sitting on church pews do not live in a God-conscious state. God consciousness means everything that I do and say must be filtered through my knowledge of God who should be sitting on the throne of my heart. God should be the controller of my thoughts, feelings and actions every moment.

His Word tells us how to live. Colossians 3: 12–15 (NLT) says, “Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You must make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace.”

This one passage shows us how much we need His Word to become more like Him. Let’s have our daily ‘date’ with God!
